Philip is a Physics and Engineering teacher at High Tech High Media Arts in San Diego California. He currently teaches grade 12.
He grew up in San Diego enjoys surfing, walking, and beer tasting in this beautiful area. Even though he never thought of himself as a school person, he was attracted to teaching at project based school because all the experiences that he most remembered from high school happened while he was making and doing things outside of the classroom. Teaching through projects lets students have those same experiences as part of their class.
Having studied art and science Philip's work usually has to do with making things to interpret the world or answer a question, like "How can we honor minority figures from history?" or "How do you tell someone about climate change?" or "How do you want to be remembered?"
Philip walks home from work to his apartment in Point Loma which he shares with his wife, cat, and 59 plants.
