This semester we will create topographic maps of locations on planet Earth both of their current form and our best guess as to what they will look like in 10,000 years
How does land change? What makes an environment change? How do we prepare for change?
Final Weeks Our final assignment is to build and frame a topographic map that your family will recognize, to be finished at exhibition. This will be done in class, and there is a Digital Portfolio post associated with it
Digital Portfolio Prompt 9 (completion grade) Spend 25 minutes documenting how you made your family map on your digital portfolio. Spend 20 minutes reflecting on your learning overall this semester. How does your family map show what you have learned this semester? Add this reflection to the digital portfolio post. Spend 15 minutes photographing your project and adding the pictures to your post.
Final Digital Portfolio Post The directions for the final post are at the link above. It will take approximately 1.5 hours to complete, so set aside enough time.
Week 10 - 11 This week we are finishing, framing and hanging the finished maps

Digital Portfolio prompt 8 Post a scan / image of your visual summary. Include an image of your finished product hanging in the hall Choose 1 Deeper Learning Competency and reflect on it’s role in your work during this project.
Week 8+9 By March 4th, everyone should have both maps cut out, glued, woodburned and stained. Maps will be made next week.
Checkpoint is March 4th, only Work Log 6 and DP post 7 are due at that time.
Remember, the best way to improve DP scores or ensure high scores is to complete them early and review them with me.
Week 7 Our time this week will be used to cut out templates for your maps and critique them. Many of us will begin cutting out the maps in plywood this week as well.

Week 3 and 4: Over the next 2 weeks, we will use woodburners to add detail to our maps and build frames to display them.
